The Master of Science in Mathematics - Financial Mathematics Along the Way track is a non-terminal Master鈥檚 degree program available only to students in the Mathematics PhD program. The Financial Mathematics track in the Mathematical Science MS program provides a strong mathematical foundation for careers in finance. It combines rigorous coursework, specialized training in financial applications, and a required experiential component, such as an internship. This preparation enhances students' ability to understand and adapt to evolving financial technologies, setting them apart in a competitive industry.

The Master of Science in Mathematics - Financial Mathematics Along the Way track requires a minimum of 30 credit hours beyond a bachelor鈥檚 degree. It is typically completed within the first 2-3 years of the doctoral program. The degree includes 7 required courses, 2 restricted elective courses, and an experiential learning requirement (3 credit hours).

The non-thesis experiential learning requirement consists of one of the following options: 1) an internship in financial mathematics (MAP 6946), (2) an approved external or internal workshop in financial mathematics (MAP 6946), or (3) the following two courses with satisfactory grades: MAP 5931 - Proseminar for Financial Mathematics (1 credit) and MAP 5933 - Seminar in Financial Mathematics (2 credits).
