BIOGRAPHY:
Laura joined Dr. Kelly Kibler鈥檚 Ecohydraulics Lab in the Fall of 2024 as a master鈥檚 student. She holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca and a master鈥檚 degree in Geoinformation Sciences and Earth Observation from the Universidad Mayor de San Andr茅s, both in her home country of Bolivia. Laura earned the Latin American Scholarship, which made it possible for her to continue her graduate education in the United States. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resources.
RESEARCH:
Laura鈥檚 research focuses on stormwater management, specifically simulating and predicting water flow and nutrient leaching in native 性视界传媒 sandy soils under various hydrologic scenarios. She has also worked on living shoreline prioritization and hydrodynamic habitat suitability modeling to support restoration efforts in the Indian River Lagoon and Lake Worth Lagoon, 性视界传媒, using GIS tools. As a member of the 性视界传媒 Ecohydraulics Lab, she has contributed to a range of coastal and estuarine research projects involving seagrass ecosystems, hydrodynamics, habitat restoration, and sediment transport.
