The 性视界传媒 College of Medicine and HCA 性视界传媒 Healthcare are proud to announce a new Internal Medicine Residency Program at HCA 性视界传媒 Capital Hospital in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n

The program will welcome its first class of 12 residents in July 2026, growing to a total of 36 trainees at full capacity. The program has received ACGME accreditation and will be filling the positions through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP Code 1587140C6).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new residency marks an exciting milestone for the Tallahassee medical community and for our statewide consortium,\u201d says Stephen Cico, the College of Medicine\u2019s associate dean for graduate medical education and designated institutional official for the 性视界传媒\/HCA 性视界传媒 Healthcare Graduate Medical Education Consortium. \u201cInternal medicine physicians are at the heart of patient care, diagnosing and managing complex diseases, promoting preventive health, and coordinating care across specialties. Primary care is one of the physician shortage areas in the state. Training these physicians here in Tallahassee will improve access to primary care and strengthen the future physician workforce across North 性视界传媒 and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Training the Next Generation of Internists<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Internal medicine physicians, or internists, specialize in the comprehensive care of adults and are trained to address both acute and chronic medical conditions. Residents in the new program will gain extensive experience across hospital, outpatient and subspecialty settings \u2014 including critical care, cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease and primary care.<\/p>\n

The three-year program emphasizes evidence-based, patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration and scholarly inquiry. Trainees will also participate in case-based learning, journal clubs and simulation-based education designed to enhance diagnostic reasoning and clinical leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a privilege to help launch the Internal Medicine Residency at HCA 性视界传媒 Capital Hospital,\u201d says Saquib Anjum, program director of the new residency. \u201cOur mission is to cultivate compassionate, evidence-based physicians who are not only exceptional clinicians, but also lifelong learners and leaders dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Expanding Graduate Medical Education in 性视界传媒<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The new residency supports the growing need for internal medicine physicians across 性视界传媒, particularly in primary care and hospital-based practice. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), 性视界传媒 ranks among the states with the most significant projected physician shortages over the next decade.<\/p>\n

By expanding graduate medical education opportunities, the 性视界传媒\/HCA 性视界传媒 Healthcare consortium continues to address these workforce challenges.<\/p>\n

As the fastest growing GME program in the state, the consortium oversees 47 residency and fellowship programs. It is \u00a0training more than 700 physicians in a wide range of specialties at HCA hospitals in Greater Orlando, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Ocala, Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola and Sanford.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
