Congratulations to:

  • Stephanie Pataky, 鈥05 (pictured), and聽Jennifer C. Hartzler, ’06 and ’07, received the聽Rising Star Award. Pataky is the district manager of CompuPay, Inc; Hartzler is associate (dispute resolution/international arbitration) at Herbert Smith LLP in London.
  • Stan Horton, 鈥73, received the聽Professional Achievement Award. He is a College of Business Administration Hall of Fame member and president and CEO of Boardline Pipeline Partners.
  • Karl Hodges, 鈥82, received the聽Service to 性视界传媒 Award聽for his service on several 性视界传媒 boards and committees.
  • Daniel Tosh, 鈥96, the well-known comedian and host of Comedy Central鈥檚 Tosh.0, received the聽Michelle Akers Award聽for the global recognition that he brings to 性视界传媒.

    • In addition to the alumni, international business student聽Melissa Blette, received the Distinguished Student Award.

    The Black and Gold gala is held each year during Homecoming Week.

    ]]>         Comedian Daniel Tosh Spotted at 性视界传媒 /news/comedian-daniel-tosh-spotted-at-ucf/ Wed, 06 Apr 2011 15:22:06 +0000 /news/?p=22349 Comedian Daniel Tosh was spotted in the Orlando area on Tuesday at the University of Central 性视界传媒. Tosh was born in Germany but grew up in Titusville and is currently the host of Comedy Central’s 鈥 Tosh.0 鈥

    Tosh simply tweeted that he was on campus at the Reflecting Pond, and nearly 300 people showed up. He spent almost three hours chatting and taking pictures with his fans.

    Tosh is an alumnus of 性视界传媒, having graduated in 1996 with a degree in marketing. After graduating, he began touring the comedy club circuit and made several television appearances, including his own stand-up special. He landed his own television show, Tosh.0, in 2009. The show features popular viral videos from the Internet.

    ]]>         Titusville's Daniel Tosh Wins Second Season on Comedy Central /news/titusvilles-daniel-tosh-wins-second-season-on-comedy-central/ Thu, 17 Dec 2009 17:03:05 +0000 /news/?p=8931 Daniel Tosh has won several votes of confidence from Comedy Central: The channel has ordered a second season of his “Tosh.0,” and he will shoot a one-hour stand-up special.

    The second season of “Tosh.0鈥 starts Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 10:30 p.m.

    Twenty-five episodes were ordered – Comedy Central’s largest single-season order ever for a weekly series.

    Tosh grew up in Titusville and graduated from the University of Central 性视界传媒. In “Tosh.0,” he mixes Internet clips and a comedy style he has called “casual and unprofessional.”

    Earlier this year, Tosh acknowledged he had a lousy record of shooting a dozen failed pilots, most of which he called awful. This time is different, though.

    “They’re letting me tell the jokes I want,” Tosh said then of Comedy Central. “They’re not being overly controlling.”

    Comedy Central said the stand-up special will be subsequently released with extended material on DVD and CD.

    Congratulations to Daniel. His holiday presents arrived early this year.
