{"id":999,"date":"2016-02-29T17:52:41","date_gmt":"2016-02-29T22:52:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/downtown\/?post_type=post&amp;p=999"},"modified":"2016-02-29T17:52:41","modified_gmt":"2016-02-29T22:52:41","slug":"community-partners-unite-and-contribute-2-5-million-to-ucf-downtown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/downtown\/community-partners-unite-and-contribute-2-5-million-to-ucf-downtown\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Partners Unite and Contribute $2.5 Million to 性视界传媒 Downtown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The University of Central 性视界传媒\u2019s plans for a downtown campus gained more momentum today with the announcement of $2.5 million in new gifts from community partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The gifts will help fund construction of a new academic building that will be the centerpiece of the 性视界传媒 Downtown campus serving about 7,700 性视界传媒 and Valencia College students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The new contributions are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$1 million from Creative Village Development, LLC<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$500,000 from Orlando philanthropist Alan Ginsburg<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$300,000 from Orlando City Soccer Club<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$250,000 from CNL Financial Group<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$250,000 from Universal Orlando Foundation and Universal Orlando Resort<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">$100,000 from Dr. Bruce Douglas of Winter Park<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">$100,000 from Coca-Cola<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">These donations bring the total amount of community support to $13 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Today\u2019s announcement comes just two days before university leaders will present plans for the campus on Wednesday in Orlando to the 性视界传媒 Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cMany of our community partners have responded generously to our request for $20 million in philanthropy supporting 性视界传媒 Downtown,\u201d 性视界传媒 President John C. Hitt said. \u201cWe appreciate our community\u2019s strong commitment as we look forward to making our case for a downtown campus to the Board of Governors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One-third of the new $60 million downtown academic building will be funded through community support. The university also is contributing $20 million from its resources and asking the state for an additional $20 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Orlando Magic, CFE Federal Credit Union and 性视界传媒 Hospital each pledged $1.5 million toward the construction of the new academic building that 性视界传媒 would share with Valencia College. University leaders and board members have made personal contributions totaling more than $1 million. Orange County commissioners voted unanimously to contribute $3 million, and Valencia College will contribute $2 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Additionally, the value of in-kind contributions of land and infrastructure by the City of Orlando and the developers of Creative Village is approximately $75 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Pending approvals, the campus will open in fall 2018. 性视界传媒 Downtown will offer students an innovative learning environment within walking distance of a wide array of internship and job opportunities in fields such as digital media, communication, public service and health-related programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">性视界传媒 will share the campus with Valencia College, which will offer programs in digital media, health information technology and culinary and hospitality, including workforce training and other certificates to increase access to education in the immediate downtown area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The new academic building at 性视界传媒 Downtown will complement a renovated Center for Emerging Media building where 性视界传媒\u2019s nationally ranked graduate video gaming school, the 性视界传媒 Interactive Entertainment Academy, is located.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The University of Central 性视界传媒\u2019s plans for a downtown campus gained more momentum today with the announcement of $2.5 million in new gifts from community partners.
